Toolkit 1: Three Stage Tonal

These are three pieces I created focusing on three stage tonal work that we focused on today. I chose the movie Tangled (2011) and worked from these two stills to create two 3 stage tonal thumbnails. I had to decipher between the light, dark and middle tones to work out the different vales within each section. 

I then tried working from a painting by Frederic Edwin Church. I found that this was difficult as most of the painting was made up of mid tones, making it harder to map out the various shapes. When it came to painting I struggled more but I feel that with more practice I will improve.
