Sound Design: Lesson 1

In the first lesson we learnt about different types of sound design, including Foley sound design. This is when a team of people create sound using similar elements or completely different objects to re-enact the sounds from pre-filmed clips. With this technique they usually use the same object for various different sounds. For example, the same crate was uses throughout for crate sounds but also for moving sounds. One of the most interesting parts about this was that, in the clip they used wet blue roll to emulate the sound of a live fish. (something you wouldn't typically connect to sounding like a fish moving)

We then went on to use Adobe audition beginning to learn how to use the program, acquiring techniques of how to get rid of background noise such as sirens and phones ringing. Here are some audio clips that I edited to cut out the background noise. I tried to cutout as much as I could, however some little noses still remain. Yet I hope with more practice within the program I will slowly improve on editing different audio clips.
